Here we have a Modded Gamecube (DOL-001) with a brand new shell and Picoboot installed.

With Picoboot installed it will boot into an operating system called Swiss which you can run backups of your games that you own directly from the micro sd card making the disc drive optional. If you don't want swiss to launch upon boot you can switch it back to normal in the settings.
